Elements and Performance Criteria
- Commit to the principles and practices of equine dentistry
- Develop knowledge of good practice techniques and procedures used in the equine dentistry and allied health provider fields
- Develop, apply and maintain administrative support services including records and charts for all cases
- Identify and comply with animal welfare and work health and safety requirements in conducting equine dental services within professional and personal scope
- Identify and comply with industry standards of practice and codes of conduct
- Comply with national, State or Territory veterinary surgeon or practitioner legislation and regulations
- Develop, document and promote policies and procedures for animal management and environmentally sustainable work practices
- Develop an industry network
- Identify equine industry health service providers and evaluate options for horse or other equine health care
- Develop a network for sharing of information, collaboration and consultation in the care of equines with other equine industry health service providers
- Refer owners or carers to registered veterinarians or other appropriate service providers when service required is outside scope of practice
- Represent equine dentistry practices available to the community
